About Shell PLC (GB)
Shell (formerly known as Royal Dutch Shell) is a British-Dutch oil and gas company. It has roots dating back to 1890 but was officially formed in 1907 through the merger of two businesses. The company is one of the seven oil ‘supermajors’ with one of the largest market capitalisations in the world. Shell primarily focuses on the extraction and refining of oil, natural gas, petrochemicals, and lubricants. As renewable energy is becoming more important in modern times, the company’s future projects involve creating cleaner and lower-carbon energy alternatives, which could make the company more desirable. Shell stock is listed on the London Stock Exchange with secondary listings in Amsterdam and New York. The blue-chip stock is also a constituent of several major stock indices, such as the FTSE 100 and AEX, and is considered to be a benchmark for the oil and gas industry.
